Despite the rain keeping us from heading out into Gastown, I really enjoyed this composition workshop with Akhil and the Vancouver Photography Group. Rather than canceling the session, Akhil adapted the workshop and used Waterfront Station as our classroom, which turned out to be a great environment for learning composition. We explored key concepts such as the Rule of Thirds, leading lines, symmetry, patterns, balance, colour, tone, and the use of positive and negative space, all while finding creative photographic opportunities within the station. What stood out was how the workshop encouraged us to slow down and really observe our surroundings. Even in a single location, there were countless examples of shapes, lines, repeating patterns, and points of interest that helped illustrate the compositional principles being discussed. Akhil was knowledgeable, patient, and engaging throughout the session, offering practical advice and encouraging participants to experiment with different perspectives and approaches. The experience was also a good reminder that photographers can't control the weather?only their ISO. While the rain may have washed out our Gastown photo walk, it didn't dampen the learning experience. In fact, it proved that strong composition matters more than having the perfect location, and that sometimes the best shot is just waiting a few steps away under a dry roof.

Mr. Marco was great and made the session very enjoyable. He explained the basics of portrait photography clearly, including how to make the subject feel comfortable and confident during a shoot. He also covered useful camera techniques in a way that was easy for beginners to understand. It was a valuable and well-organized event, and I?m looking forward to attending more sessions in the future.

John was professional and helpful. The event was pretty wet but that's Vancouver. Needing to go inside was way to busy due to it being a Sat and a cruise ship in as well. On rainy days a different venue would have been ideal. Other than that is was fun, got out and met people I would never have met was a bonus. I'm looking forward to the begginers class in a few weeks.

This was a great introduction to studio photography and portraits, for me, having no previous experience with this genre. There was a good mix of participants and each had time to gain comfort developing their model/photographer relationship and practise capturing "the shot". Overall a great experience and opportunity to meet new people with a passion for photography.

I've always wanted to capture the majestic bald eagle in detail as one of my bucket list photos since starting photography 3 months ago. The perfect picture was elusive. I've known of 2 eagles that hang out in the area of Spanish Banks and decided to check out and see if I could capture a shoot of them. I parked the car stepped out and in the distance I could make out the silhouette of one in a tree. I approached slowly along the gravel pathway and started clicking with my Nikon D810 paired with

There?s something unforgettable about the landscape surrounding Zion National Park at first light. As the morning sun rises across the desert, the sandstone cliffs come alive with deep oranges, glowing golds, soft creams, and rich red layers carved over millions of years. The unique strata colours of the canyon walls seem to shift by the minute as the sunlight slowly moves across the rock face, revealing textures and patterns hidden in shadow only moments before. What makes this region so speci

Originally showed up at Gouldsboro State Park at sunrise to get a backlit, misty shot of the island but when I got there, NO mist, and enough boats on the lake to walk across!Quickly decided to take a backroad to another favorite spot nearby, and slammed on the brakes as I was driving over a small bridge when I looked to the right and saw THIS scene. Finding it was sheer luck, but as always, just getting out there at first light is half the battle. Made this one standing right on the bridge.
